This is a beautiful natural area very near to the village of Vamos. There are many ancient tracks and paths which lead to hidden gems on the island of Crete. This is one such path.
A new church has been built near the start of the path dedicated to Aghia Paraskevi. We found this place when we were placing The Black Madonna cache. We found out later that the church was built by a local taverna owner who had a dream in which he was told by God to build a new church on this site. He named the church after his wife's patron saint. She is called Voula and the church is Aghia Paraskevi.
Saint Paraskevi (Greek: Παρασκευή) literally "Preparation" as the day of preparation (Friday) for the Sabbath which is Saturday.* please note the Cretan Runners no longer live on the island so we ask our fellow cachers to maintain this cache. Should this prove difficult the cache will be archived. Thanks for your help.
