We love Eagle Scout projects that benefit parks. What would some parks do without them? We find this particular project so interesting that we have made a geocache to bring folks here to see it. To get to the first stage, just follow the Blue trail to the cache from the trailhead waypoint below. The first stage of this cache is a picnic table that is about a mile hike into the woods.
Once you get to the first stage, to find the cache itself, just do a little math:
The north coordinates are N 42 45.NNN, where NNN = 894 plus Derek's Troop Number
The west coordinates are W 084 2W.WWW where WWWW = 461 plus the year completed
This cache is a medium snap-lock hidden in a typical way. If you do not find the cache right away, please use the hint below vs. overly disturbing the area.
Of course it is not required, but we would also LOVE IT if you would post a photo of yourself or someone in your group sitting at the picnic table with your log. Super bonus points if you bring food with you and you post a photo of you or your group using the table for your picnic!!!!
In the winter, when the trails are signed x-country skiing only - no hiking, please respect that and do not seek the cache unless you are on x-country skis.
There is a fee for vehicles entering this park when the booth is staffed. Pedestrians and bicycles can enter for free even when there is someone in the booth. No bicycles allowed on the hiking trails though.
There are many other geocaches hidden in this wonderful park, so you may want to plan on spending some time on the trails while you are here.
Enjoy your hike!
Congrats to mmc881 on being First to Find!
