Down by the Quays Traditional Cache

This is a traditional cache placed down by Sligo quays. The cache is close to a busy car park with plenty of passing cars and muggles so, be extra careful searching! Also be careful of the water, you might fall in!

The cache is a small, blue container. It contains a logbook, pencil, scout badge, shop voucher and an interesting looking pebble. Parking is available close to the cache and it is also near the centre of town. Sligo quays is also the home of one of 3 statues placed in Sligo town in remembrance of the victims of the Famine. During the years 1841-1847, 30,000 people left from Sligo harbour in search of a better life during the famine from this port. The other two statues are at the Famine graveyard at St. Johns Hospital. The cache is NOT wheelchair accessible. I have given it a one terrain and difficulty rating to make it accessible to all geocachers advanced and beginners.
