Geocache Description:

This Geocache is being placed in honor of a wonderful man whom meant so much to us and the community we loved. Thanks for visiting the park. *NOTE: Cache & coordinates were changed AGAIN on 7/5/17 due to muggle activity. We placed a new Temporary Smaller Cache. I need to scout out a new spot for a true large box. It was moved just 8 feet over, at knee height. Use some geo-sense. New Coordinates: N 40° 41.703 W 79° 20.380

Jack “Coach” Quinn touched many lives during his nearly-40 years as heath and physical education teacher at Elderton High School and while he was chairman of the Elderton/Plumcreek Area Recreation and Park Commission. The Sports Complex was dedicated to him in 1994.

This Geocache is being placed in honor of a wonderful man whom meant so much to us and the community we loved. Jack “Coach” Quinn touched many lives in his 83 years. We knew him during his nearly-40 years as heath and physical education teacher at Elderton High School, where he also served as the athletic director for a 25 year period. We also love the community and worked at the Elderton High School until its closure in 2012. We still love coming to this well maintained park to play ball, run on the playground with our kids, and hike. We were fortunate enough to know this wonderful man, and it seemed only fitting that we would honor him with our 1st geocache.

This geocache is placed with permission of the Elderton/Plumbcreek Area Park & his loving wife. There is parking near the cache. But, Please take a moment to enjoy the park, as he would have wished for all. I marked the trailhead in case you have time for a stroll.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please hide well, as caches in the area have muggle issues. Please be stealthy & re-hide well.  We locked the cache to its spot. Please use the padlock code "JACK" to remove from the spot for your enjoyment, but relock when you are finished. Thanks for playing with us! smiley
