Bedlam 1st Game Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dr.Scissortail: I'm out of state for the next 18 months, so I'll need to archive this missing cache. If someone wants to use the info about the First Bedlam Game, it's fine with me. Many cachers found it interesting. I got the info from a monument at the pavilion, so feel free to copy what I wrote.

Geocache Description:

This is a two-stage multi-cache. Stage 1 is in Mineral Wells Park near the Pavillion. Stage 2 is southwest across the dike between the ponds at the Logan County Fairgrounds and Rodeo Grounds. To record a find, you must find the Stage 1 cache, obtain the coordinates for Stage 2, and then find Stage 2 and sign the log. Both caches are about 1.5 difficulty, but since there are two, I raised the overall rating.

Mineral Wells Park is the site of the first OU-OSU Bedlam football game. The first Bedlam was played on Nov. 5, 1904, in what was then called Old Island Park. The first game was between the Oklahoma A&M Tigers of Stillwater and the Oklahoma University Rough Riders of Norman. The day was bitter cold with blustery winds out of the north. The boundaries of the field were vaguely defined. Every player on the OU team scored that day. The final score was 75-0. You can read more about the game on the granite marker in front of the Pavilion.
