You shouldn't need Gollum to guide you through these marshes, just maybe some good boots and bug spray.
Take the trail east of the parking lot. Maybe a 1/2 mile casual hike each way. After a while the trail becomes somewhat undefined. Just follow your GPS. No heavy bushwhacking should be necessary.
