Geocache Description:

*Warning - Entry to Castle Drogo will need to paid to get this cache (unless you are a National Trust member)*

This multi cache is a trail around the gardens of Castle Drogo, the house built by the famous architect Edwin Lutyens for Julius Drewe, completed in 1930. The trail set by this cache will lead you around the formal gardens of the house ending up with a cache large enough for trackables and swaps.

This cache has a total of 4 stages all within a 5 minute walk of each other, with the last two being physical stages. This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.

The objectives for each stage are:

1) You are looking for the latin phrase: 'Drogo ----- -- ------ ---- -----'. Once the blank words have been found, take their 5 first letters in order to make the northings and the last 5 letters in order to make the westings. Format N 50 --.--- W 003 --.-(letter -2)-. Use the letter converter chart provided.

A=4 D=6 E=1 N=4 S=6 T=8 V=8 W=8 Y=5

2) Sit on the bench, what type of hedge is directly behind you. Use the letters from this to complete the westings, W 003 48.---. The northings can be calculated by substracting 13 from the northings found in stage 1.

A=2 D=7 E=0 N=1 S=8 T=5 V=9 W=8 Y=5

3) You will find a bison container with the co ordinates of the final cache, along with the hint. Look around the back and on top of the frame. Please place back exactly as found.

This cache complies with all regulations and the cache owner has listed it correctly. Added by Calluna Tib (SW Reviewer)
