On the way to French Pass I noticed this lookout sign for Tawhitinui Reach, it intrigued me. On the way back I stopped thinking there must be a track to a lookout but no the track only goes as far as the guy lines for the power pole. There probably was a nice view over the Tawhitinui Reach once but the trees have grown too big.
There maybe no longer a view but there is a cache.
There is no need to go down the bank.
