This cache is located at Burritt on the Mountain Museum and Historic Park. You can access it from the Huntsville trail. Parking is very limited at the trailhead so you may have to drive to parking lot at top of Burritt Drive. If you are only here to hunt and not to visit the museum and historic park, walk back down the road .3 of a mile to the small parking lot on right to the trailhead. Walk the trail until you get to the giant cross, then take the trail up the mountain. Please note, this is a highly used venue for weddings. So be considerate and come hunt another day if there is a wedding. Most weddings happen on Saturday and Sunday evenings after the park has closed for the day.
If you would like to visit (paid admission) the museum and historic park, either start at the welcome center or after you find the cache from the trail, walk across the green to the Welcome Center to pay and get driections to the museum and historic park. You'll need about 90 minutes for your visit. During the 1800's "letterboxing" was popular. It is the precursor to modern geocaching. If you choose to visit the historic park, ask for the first clue to find the letterbox in the historic park. You may want to bring a rubber stamp to stamp the letterboxing log book. Have fun hunting for the letterbox and learning about life during the 1800's in Huntsville along the way.
