On Saturday 5th July 2014 we we set off on our annual holidays this time to Brittany and Normandy, just as the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart got underway in Leeds.
I therefore missed the TV coverage at home but managed to catch up via newspapers/internet and the campsite bar TV once over in France. I was proud of the show put on by Yorkshire and amazed at the glorious weather for the Yorkshire stages and chuckled a bit at the awful weather that followed for the stages in most of Belgium and France. Didn't we do well!!
22 teams lined up in Leeds, to take part in the 101st edition of the Tour de France. Each squad fielded nine riders, bringing the total number of participants to 198. If I had had my chance to pick a drem team for this years Gran Depart my team selection would have been.
