It would appear that there are two souvenirs available for attending this event.
The first is from Groundspeak. They will give you a souvenir for logging an earthcache on 12th October 2014. We will be starting at the Cleopatra's Needle so if you log a find for that earthcache you will gain that souvenir. If you have already found that earthcache there are other earthcaches in the area and I can help you with the answers for them including the" Older than London Itself" earthcache.
Low Tide is at 10.37 and High Tide is at 16.08 on the 12th October so it should be possibe to carry out the necessary measurements before and after the walk. If you want tips on how to measure the height of High and Low Tide ,feel free to email me.
The second souvenir is from the Geological Society of America which they will send you for walking or running 5 kilometers starting from an Earthcache . You have to take a photograph of yourself wearing a bib downloadable from this webpage and send the photograph with your time for the five kilometer walk to the Geological Society of America.
Please bring a bib and magnifing glass with you if you can.
I will bringing some spare copies of the bib with me to the event.
We will be starting the run from the Cleopatra Needle earthcache walking up Essex Street to Chancery Lane to look at interesting stones and fossils. We wil then walk to the Blackfairs 174 Queen Victoria Street for some refreshments and then complete the 5 mile walk by following the course of the Lost River Fleet . The walk will formally finish when my GPS records that we have walked five kilometres.
I will have the log book with me which you will be able to sign thoughout the walk so if you join me at the start of the walk and complete it you will be able to log
1) the Cleopatra Needle earthcache
2) the International Earthcache Event cache
and obtain two souvenirs.
Incidently this event is part of World Space Week. Details of World Space Week can be found at www.worldspaceweek.org/
