Geocache Description:

On 28 July 1914, the First World War, also known as the Great War began.  It lasted until 11 November 1918, many Canadian were killed during this war to end all wars, even more were wounded or never the same again.

Each cache in this series is dedicated to the memory of family members who has served in the Canadian Armed forces or went off to War to “guard” our freedom.


In Memory Of

Corporal Wilfred Robicheau

Wilfred Robicheau was born 26 March 1905 in Yarmouth Co, Nova Scotia.  Wilfred was the son of William Robicheau and Hattie Muise.

Wilfred signed the Oath of allegiance on 4 November 1939 and joined with the West Nova Scotia Regiment.  During his sixty-seven and a half months of service, Wilfred spent 63 months in service in England, Sicily and Italy as part of the Infantry.

Wilfred was one of the lucky ones; he returned home and was discharged on 4 November 1939.   He returned home to Yarmouth, to his wife Cassie, and two children.  For his service, he was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Metal w/ Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945.

Wilfred passed away 04 Nov 1981 and is buried in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
