Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden near the road that goes up to the "Santa Claus" church.  There are two sentries by this road but only one will yeild the cache. Caution: May contain traces of peanuts!

St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral is listed as an official Seattle Historic Landmark.  The chuch was built by officers of the Russian White Army after they ended up in Seattle fleeing the terror of the communist regime.  The community was established in 1934 and the church was built and dedicated in 1937. The church was named after a forth century saint, St. Nicholas of Myra of Lycea, the prototype of the modern Santa Claus.  The community chose this name because St. Nicholas was the patron saint of the last tsar - Nicholas II.

12/7/14 - The cache was corrupted either by the freezing weather or by the careless handling of geocachers. It was unavailable for a couple of weeks, but now has been replaced with a new cache and a new dry log. When replacing the cache, please make sure that the cap is completely closed so that Seattle weather doesn't affect it. Thanks and enjoy!
