The cache is not hidden at the posted coordinates, but you will have to go to there to find out where the cache is hidden.
At the far east end of the little hamlet of Point Lookout, NY there is a nice little park with some really beautiful views. There is a playground, a couple of ball fields and some beach area that you can walk up to, which is where the posted coordinates will bring you to. Once you are there, you will find an engineers survey mark that is stamped Point Lookout 88.
In order to find the cache, you will need to determine who put this survey mark disk here:
If it was the U.S. Army, then the final coordinates are N 40° 35.558 W 073° 34.553
If it was the U.S. Navy, then the final coordinates are N 40° 35.573 W 073° 34.618
If it was the U.S. Coast Guard, then the final coordinates are N 40° 35.504 W 073° 34.595
Cache is hidden within the park, so you will be able to walk to the final.
There is a parking lot in this park, however the gates are not always open. There is also a pedestrian gate, which seems to be open more often than the parking lot gate. There is a very little street parking available in Point Lookout, so I have posted coordinates for the front of the post office where there is 1 hour parking available. That will be plenty of time if you need to walk to the entrance of the park as the post office is a short distance away from there. Also, there is a sign on the gate to the park that says that the park closes at dusk, however you might be able to walk into the park after dusk if you choose to do so.
