This is an extreme hiking event. We will plot the exact route on the carpark based on participants' experience and level of fitness. Expect no less than 18km roundtrip and 800+m cumulative elevation gain.
PROPOSED ITINERARY

- We start meeting at 9.45am at the advised PARKING coords (DOONANE/Ballyhourigan Forest Recreation Area Official Parking).
- We set out at 10.15am SHARP.
- We go over Boolatin Top (Reference Point) to
- Keeper Hill Trigpoint (EVENT coords) where
- we plan to have lunch between 1pm and 1.30pm
- Continue to Knockane summit (reference point)
- Return to parking coords
You will have considerable difficulty catching up, if you miss the start from parking at 10.15am ..
SHOUT IN ADVANCE IF YOU NEED HELP WITH LOGISTICS!
Although we plot the specific route at the spot, the event coords and the summit reference points should give you an idea that it will be a long day out in the hills.
Another warning: Last mile to the event parking requires very cautious driving not to lose your exhaust!

- sturdy hiking boots
- 3l of water + some hot drink
- 2 packed lunches + some quick energy (cereal bars or similar)
- rain gear - spare clothes (some essential spares in your water proof rucksack, full complement in your car for when we return :-))

THE LOGGING CONDITION

All of the above is what the CO suggests to do on that day and hopes that all participants will be willing and enjoying to do with him :-). However, the actual EVENT takes place at the listing coordinates (Keeper Hill Trigpoint) between 13.00 and 13.30 IST of the event day. Anyone wishing to log "Attended" MUST make it to the event coords within the specified time frame, all other parts of the hike as described elsewhere in this listing are facultative and NOT part of the logging condition.
