Bear Creek Geocache Traditional Cache

The cache contains items that are part of the history of this place and the buildings that you will see nearby. The location was originally homesteaded in 1905 and at one point contained the all the property on both sides of the highway. The original buildings were lost to fire.

Parking for the geocache is on our private property. But you will see once you arrive that we are happy to share this interesting little historic spot with friendly visitors. It seems that many of the inhabitants of Haines Junction have lived in the old cabin at one time or another. It has also been used as a burl shop in the past. The old cabin is currently occupied so please do not enter until I mention here that it is open again. If you would like to continue along the creek path or use the walk/bike-in tent campsite beside the creek (about 200 meters in), please inquire at the nearby lodge. Also, if you cross the highway, the Nygren road will take you to the beginning of the Alsek Trail in Kluane Park.
