Rice Homestead was built in 1790 and has merited a New york State Department of Education official Historical Marker. It is on both the National and State Historical Registries. It is considered a fine, well preserved example of a Federal era farmhouse.

The Homestead is opened on Wednesdays and Saturdays from noon to 4:00pm starting June 14 until August 30. Tours are also given by calling 518-661-5576 or 518-661-5761. There are special events during the spring, summer, fall, and at Christmas time. Admission is FREE.
The Mayfield Historical Society now maintains the Rice Homestead and would be very happy if you find the cache and then stop in and say 'Hello.'
