Back in the early 70's there were sightings of a manlike furry creature with horns and hooves for feet that terrorized the Waterford countryside. Some folks even said there were incidents of this sheep-man violently attacking humans and wildlife. Scores of people claimed to have witnessed the creature.
He was said to have frequented the covered bridge on Niemeyer Road where he would hide in the rafters to await unsuspecting lovers. One story was that on a rainy night two couples in a convertible pulled into the bridge to put the car's top up. The creature attacked but the boys fought him off and were able to escape by quickly speeding away. The roof of the car was ripped and mangled and had to be replaced.
The sheepman was described as being over six feet tall with light grey hair covering his body. He had horns, long canine teeth, and sharp claws. And then, of course, there were the hooves.
This cache is placed in an area not far from the bridge. It seems like a good place for the sheepman to lurk. In fact, I did see hoof prints when I placed the cache. Maybe they were from deer.........maybe. Anyway, I didn't hang around to find out.
