Geocache Description:


Welcome to the historic 83 Mile Roadhouse, located at the crossroad of Highway 97 (the old Cariboo Road), and 83 Mile Creek Road.  I have driven by this site so many times, often trying to imagine what it was like back in the day.  Historically, the 83 Mile Roadhouse was one of the first roadhouse stops on the Cariboo Gold Rush Trail, constructed in the 1860's to serve the many gold seekers heading north.  The 83 Mile Roadhouse marks the distance along the original Cariboo Wagon Road from the town of Lillooet (Mile 0), thus allowing travellers to gauge their distance traveled.
