This is part of several caches that you need to write the codes down to find the final coordinates for Pirates Finale: Treasure Chest.

Since the pirates were on the open seas, particularly in the Caribbean area, rum was the drink of choice. First of all, it lasted much longer than regular water which would become stagnant on the long ocean voyages now that people were traveling across the Atlantic. Secondly, the French were monopolizing the brandy, which was rather expensive, and actually banned rum because they were afraid it would interfere with the profit from their brandy. Finally, rum was relatively easy and cheap to make.
