Taking A Brake - Brewery Run Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Fortislander80:

I hate to archive a fun little hide. (sure I may be biased) unfortunately the city came and clear cut the area, destroying the GZ and removing the cache in the process.

Geocache Description:

I decided to put out a letterbox for all.  We don't have any close to home...and especially Aug 2014, some may need one for the challenge!  This will not be a quick P&G but it is a nice trail.

To start off your journey we begin with a great view of the old main entrance to one of Fort Wayne's oldest schools with it's first class graduating in the 20's!  Many moons ago there was a brewery along this trail, while it is long gone the name lives on.  As a kid my older cousins would walk down to look for bottle caps, and even to this day it is known.  If you ask one of the students, many to this day will run away at the mere mention of having them do the "Brewery Run," and I decided for this cache to give you a small taste of this journey. (sorry the suds are long gone!)

**While you are getting a small taste it will be about a mile walk by the time you are done, this is NOT an easy P&G.

Follow these dirrections closely if you want to gain that smiley, also watch your step, there is traffic, and a river!  Pay attention becuase on your way back you may find yourself near a cache or two as well.

1)  From the starting point you have 2 options to stay on the run. Follow the path bearing 300 degrees for 500 feet.

2)  Now you are at another decision to be made. The quieter path bearing 330 degrees should do. Lets say we go about 580 feet this time.

3)  At this spot you are in for the long haul. Which way to go...how about a nice jog bearing 50 degrees, lets say for around .3 miles, yes that is correct 1584 feet. That may be enough to get your heart rate up a little? You will see a bright yellow sign that can't make up it's mind, and you will know you've arrived.

4)  Ooops!  I made you go to far!  Backtrack 180 feet along this same path bearing 195 degrees.

5)  Here you will see a small clearing and a canopy of small trees you can walk into if you look to 175 degrees.  Just inside of this canopy is a pile of wood, near this the cache waiting for you.  You will find it less than 40 feet from the paved trail trail.
