ohjoy!: I tortured myself by going after this one and had quite an adventure in the process. Because my old way of getting there was no longer possible, I tried a shorter bushwhacking route which was still more than I ever care to do in the future. (or make others do)

Thankfully, the container and I are safely home at this point.

Geocache Description:

The kids (former preschoolers) are growing up, taking SATs and sending out college applications. Head back out here and revisit their hiding area, using instructions given below.

The original cache at this location, (visit link) was among the first caches I found way back in 2004.

I tried a few time to contact the COs in hopes of adopting the original cache to prevent archival.

Since that failed, I picked up the container and replaced it with a new one a few feet away. I hope to clean up the old, original ammo can and put it back as the container for this replacement cache the next time I'm in the area, although it's a real mess.

There used to be a clear trail almost to the cache site. That's no longer true. You will be following animal tracks for about 400 feet. However, I did it in shorts and sandals, so it's not a real bushwhack. If you got the way I did, you may see remnant of the old trail.

Park at the given coordinates, and then start down the trail at the east end of the parking area. Continue on this path just across a small bridge. Once across the bridge, follow animal trails to the cache site. Coordinates bounce incredibly in here, so near the site, just look for the remnants of a medium sized patriarch - it will not be the obvious one as you approach, so no need to disturb that old giant.
