Passing of Time - Natures Gift Traditional Cache

One more cache along the 2nd Lake Loop Trail in Champion Lakes Park.

On the West side of the 2nd lake.  In nature there are numerous things that affect the health of a forest.  One such effect is wildfire.  This happened in this area some 80 to 120 years ago.  There are remnants of the old cedars that grew here long ago.  Some are still standing and scarred by fire.  Still others have slowly succumbed to their roots rotting off and now are horizontal or close to it.  Amongst the dead cedars a young and vibrant forest flourishes.  You are looking on the bottom side of the trail.
