A very quick stop and grab...just gotta dodge the muggles. Another of my historical stops along Rt. 355.
Heading south out of Urbana on Rt. 355 you'd probably drive past this historical location countless times before taking notice. Thats why I placed a cache here...incentive to stop and look at a piece of history. This spot marks the former location of Peter's Tavern, a pitstop for THE Goerge Washington on June 30th, 1791. The actual location of the tavern was located 200 yards west of this marker, but its still pretty cool. The cache is designed to be a quick find, no tricks...just look where you'd expect to find it...pretty easy considering there is nothing around aside from the marker. The compartment is pretty small but can hold a SMALL tradeable and maybe a couple trackables. There is a scrolled log. Please make sure the log is placed securely back in its ziplock in order to keep moisture out. There is parking southbound, but not northbound. 355 has its busy spurts, so try to time it so you don't get muggled. Enjoy the piece of Frederick County history!! Coordinates are accurate. CONGRATS TO Staub2110 FTF!!!
