4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The Queanbeyan Railway Station was opened in September 1887 and was the centre of a complex which included a station master’s residence, railway bridge, pumping station, goods shed and stockyards in Oaks Estate. The complex was built by Jordan and Williams. Alexander Johnson was the primary contractor responsible for building the railway line to Queanbeyan and the station complex. The station is a good example of a group of Victorian style buildings and is a popular spot for wedding photos because of the architecture.

In March 1913, Queanbeyan became a junction station when construction commenced on the line to Canberra.

It also served as the divide in the line (Canberra or Cooma) for the Canberra Monaro Express until the service ceased in September 1988.

Today, the station is still used for the Canberra/Sydney service via the NSW TrainLink Xplorer. It is also used by the Canberra Railway Museum who run regular steam train and diesel locomotive rides to Bungendore (see hyperlinks below).
