Geocache Description:

An easy walk just across and down the road from the parking lot for the Kirby Trail. If you like to hike you can walk a bit or all of the Kirby and Turkey Creek Trails. Very little traffic here, a peaceful, aromatic location.

This is now an environmental education center and was once the information station. The Jimmy Staley cabin is an example of early to mid-twentieth century homesteading in Southeast Texas, adopted mostly by low income families during the depression. Jimmy H. and Elda built the log cabin in 1936 on Kirby land. They raised hogs and cattle. FM 420 was built in 1945. The cache is across the road from the Turkey Creek unit of the Big Thicket.

Please make sure you replace as found
