I am creating this virtual cache to call attention to what I think is the Noisiest Camping Site in Oklahoma (and what a beautiful, relaxing noise it is!)
On a recent trip around to state parks in Oklahoma, my wife and I stumbled across this little jewel! (We will definitely return this summer and camp here for a day or two.)
The waterfall over the dam is deafening, and relaxing at the same time. There is a campsite right next to the river where you can’t hear anything but the water (and that’s where we plan to pitch our tent!)
From the people I talked to, the fishing is pretty good also. I just like the relaxing sounds of water and nature and the beautiful surroundings. A very small State Park, but now, one of my favorite here in scenic Oklahoma!
To qualify as a find, take a picture of your GPS in front of the dam spillway, OR, e-mail me the answers to these questions regarding the park signs:
1.) On the entrance sign, the top line says “Spavinaw State Park”. What does the bottom line say?
2.) In the park is a very strange sign. According to this sign, what is the “FEE” for ‘vehicles that park on or block RV Sites’?
I have been given updated coordinates (pleae check them for me: (new: 36 22.974, 95 02.986, old: 36 23.981, 95 2.994)
Any and all comments are welcome!
