Trousdale Place is a historic mansion house in Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee. John Bowen, local attorney and member of the United States House of Representatives built the house circa 1813. After Bowen's death in 1822, the house was purchased by William Trousdale, who He served as Governor of Tennessee from 1849 to 1851.
Trousdale Place is a two-story Federal-style brick structure with staggered Flemish-bond brickwork.
Tucked away behind Trousdale Place and within sight of Gallatin’s historic square, is the Sumner County Museum. The museum is three stories of crammed-in, hands-on history, a virtual walk-through timeline progression of settlement in Sumner County. Sumner County history is full of surprises, tracking not just stories several hundred years old, but dating back to prehistoric times when the area was covered by an inland sea.
