TESTIMONI DELL’IMPERO
Il Forte Belvedere (in tedesco “Werk Gschwendt”) fu realizzato dal Genio militare autroungarico tra il 1908 ed il 1912 ed aveva il compito di difendere Trento in un settore particolarmente sensibile ad eventuali attacchi italiani. E’ l’unico forte operativo della zona che si è salvato dalla distruzione dei recuperanti, ovvero coloro che, dopo il conflitto, recuperarono l’acciaio dalle strutture dei forti austroungarici facendoli saltare in aria con l’esplosivo. È stato integralmente restaurato ed è oggi un vero capolavoro del Genio militare del tempo. Entrare in questo forte è come fare un salto indietro di 100 anni e vivere le ore angosciose dei soldati durante i pesanti bombardamenti. La cache si trova all’esterno del forte.
EMPIRE WITNESS
The Forte Belvedere (in German “Werk Gschwendt”) was built by the Austro-Hungarian Army Corps of Engineers between 1908 and 1912 and had the task of defending the city of Trento in an area particularly sensitive to Italian attacks. It was the only operational fort of the area that was saved from the “recuperanti”, people who, after the war, recovered the steel from the structures of the Austro-Hungarian war buildings blasting them with TNT. Has been fully restored and is a true masterpiece of military engineering of its time. Entering this fort is like stepping back 100 years and live the anguished hours of soldiers during the strong bombings. The cache is outside the fortess.
