Fifteen years ago there was a lot of buzz about computer problems and folks worried about everything from not being able to get to their e-mails to being thrown back into the Dark Ages with the crashing of all computers and computer related systems. Due to programers making changes, or we had nothing to worry about in the first place, that did not happen.
What did happen was my grandmother showed up at our family New Year's Eve party with a white plush toy that giggled, did a countdown and then said "Welcome to the Year 2000!" Link to video. After that Grama brought the toy every New Year's. She would "sneak" the little guy in to the party in a paper bag and then take it out just before midnight. The guy would do his countdown and welcome in his Aussie accent and it never failed to bring smiles and laughter.
