Leave it to the yanks not to be civil and hint that they were going to invade us. We weren’t no dummy though, because by World War Two we had forgotten the yanks and were focussed on the Nazi’s! This gun battery was built during the American Civil War to protect us against those dastardly Americans who wanted to attack Canada and make us part of their Union. While that didn’t happen, this site was used as a camp during World War One and then a dummy battery during World War Two. A dummy battery meant it had fake guns disguised like telephone poles and trucks which drove through weekly to make fresh tire tracks. You never knew if a “spy” was lurking nearby.
