Geocache Description:

This is the 3rd cache in the Sweet Adelines Series of musically related caches. It’s my 2nd cache.   These caches are hidden either by SpamMom or me, VFDirector.   We are members of Sweet Adelines International, a world wide singing organization for women, who sing 4-part a cappella music in the barbershop style. Our chorus, Vienna-Falls, is located in Fairfax, VA.  I am the director, hence my caching name!  Each cache we hide will have a music related theme, often specifically related to barbershop harmony.

A Pitch Pipe is critical for singing our style of a cappella music.  Because we don’t use a piano, we need something to get our starting pitches, so a pitch pipe is used.  The standard pitch pipe is kind of like a round harmonica. While quartets generally use this standard style, many choruses use a battery operated version,  because the sound is louder and easier to hear. In addition, the Sweet Adeline quarterly magazine is also called The Pitch Pipe. (see photos in pictures)

I chose this location because it’s very close to my house. I got the idea for where to place it based on many walks up and down this sidewalk!! You can either park at Woodlands Pool and take a short walk down the sidewalk, or park on the gravel shoulder at the bottom of the hill and walk back towards the cache.  Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the hide!

There was lots of GPS bounce in the area. When I was standing at the cache, it said I was in the middle of the road! These coords should get you close….use the hint to refine your search. You will NOT have to climb down among the rocks! FTF gets a FTF trackable. BYOP! CONGRATS to BurkoCat for FTF rights!
