Located on Steaked Mountain, a short but strenuous hike to the top. allow at least a couple of hours for this one. The trail starts on Streaked Mountain Rd. about a half-mile, off Rt. 117 between South Paris and Buckfield. If you start at Trailhead 1, it will be a tough hike but short. The trail will start out through the woods, but shortly after, you will be climbing the ledges which are mostly rock. Follow the arrows. The rocks could be wet and be slick, so please be very careful, especially when you hike back down to your car.
An alternate route is a gated dirt road about one tenth of a mile on the Paris side of South Whitman School Rd. Trailhead 2 will be less strenuous but will take you a little longer. If you park here, please do not block the gate. Follow the dirt road to the top of the mountain to the cache. There are other ways to get there but these are the most common.
