As I get older, I have started reminiscing and I realize that I have mixed feelings about my time in grade school. Some of it was good and some NOT!
In those days, we had to behave. We had to line up on entering the school and every classroom. There was no rushing through the door. In the classroom we always sat in our assigned seat and didn't dare talk unless the teacher said so. But at recess we would have our freedom; the schoolyard was a real zoo. It was heaven for us.
Then we had to go back into the school and do that readin', ritin' and rithmetic! Some teachers were terrific and some were terrifying. Some lessons were fun, but some I really did hate.
But when I consider the whole experience I made lifelong friendships and did get an education, so I guess I have more good memories than bad.
