Swimming or wading is banned in this city owned lake. But you can use a kayak, canoe, inflatable boat or a boat of larger preportions, but there is no boat ramp. This lake is open year around. I was also told that If you don't think you can paddle your boat 200 feet to the cache, they do allow electric trolling motors on this lake. If you have your own watercraft, you can use it at no charge any time during daylight hours. Be sure to bring your own PFD, it is manditory.
At the south end of the lake, the City of McAllen is providing canoes, kayaks, and a paddleboat for use on this lake. They will also provide your paddles and manditory PFD (Personal Flotation Device.) There is a rental fee of $5.00 per half hour and a waiver to sign. Hours of operation are Saturday and Sunday from 8-11am and 4-8pm.The City's provided boat rental is seasonal, and will coincide with swimming pool openings and closings.
There are also fish in this lake, don't forget to bring your pole.
