It's called Fortune Beach because someone found a fortune there once. Pirate gold? Or a bale of drugs that washed up when the Bahamas a huge center for drug smuggling in the 1970s? The locals aren't saying.
If you are staying at the Wyndham resort it is a nice walk along the beach. One of the cruise ship tours also stops here, if you are on a cruise. If you are visiting the Grand Lucayan or Memories resorts, then it is a nice excursion on a rental bicycle (or scooter). There is a bicycle lane along Midshipman road that gets you most of the way there and it is back roads the rest of the way. Allow about an hour each way, and bring plenty of water. You can also get there by kayak from the Grand Lucayan/Memories if you don't mind paddling three hours each way.
If you come by car there is parking a few yards away. If you come by taxi tell the driver to take you to Banana Bay.
The original cache went missing, so I have replaced it with a smaller cache which is no longer visible. This is now a bit larger than a film canister, and holds a pencil stub and log. There is room for very small trade items. There are often muggles around so use the hint if you want to be discreet.
