In Northern Ireland, evacuation camps had been set up in Counties Antrim, Down and Londonderry to house city evacuees in the event of a prolonged air attack. They had not been needed. It was to these camps that the Gibraltarians were sent. There are 8 of the 12 camps located in Co Antrim, close to Ballymena.
Camp 5 TAWNYBRACK (Near Moorfields)
Camp 6 MOORFIELDS
Camp 7 CASTLEGORE
Camp 8 DUNAIRD
Camp 9 DRUMMUCK
Camp 10 AGHACULLY
Camp 11 BRECKAGH BRIDGE
Camp 12 CORBY BRIDGE, RATHKENNY
Most of the buildings have been removed. The most extensive remains are at camps 8 and 9. Camp 8 and 9 also have caches placed at them but are included in the ECOS Trail series rather than under the title Gibraltarian Camp. Today, for the remainder of these camps, all that marks the site is a historic plaque.
There is no public access on to these sites as ownership is in private hands. No caches are placed inside the private land.
This cache is a camo'd micro.
Hint is pretty specific as parking is not great in this area. When placing cache road appeared to be quiet enough but probably best little ones and the dogs remain in the car.
