The location of this geocache is at the Old Government Bridge. The Old Government Bridge is located parallel to Wyoming Highway 220 and is accessable by exiting off of Wyoming Highway 220 on Trappers Route. This area is a popular area for fishing and waterfoul hunting.
The Old Government Bridge is also known for one of Wyoming's most modern day sites for murder. Around March 31, 1988, Lisa Marie Kimmell of Billings, MT was on her way traveling from Denver, CO when she was kidnapped and brutally tortured and raped by Dale Eaton (who is currently Wyoming's single death row inmate). Lisa's body was discovered in the Platte River where Dale Eaton threw her body in from the Old Government Bridge. Depending on the source you read, Lisa was either murdered at another location and her body disposed of here or other stories indicate that she was murdered in this are of the Old Government Bridge. Lisa's murder was insolved for years until DNA evidence convicted Dale for her murder along with finding Lisa's car burried on Eaton's property in Moneta, WY. Of particular interest about Lisa's vehicle, her personalized license plates "LIL MISS" were still on her buried vehicle.
If anything, this geocache serves not to imortalize Dale Eaton whatsoever but to serve as a memorial for Lisa Marie Kimmell who young life was taken away by a brutal sociopath and murderer. Mr. Eaton is thought to maybe responsible for other unsolved murders in the state, such as the alleged murder of Amye Roe Bechtel from Lander, WY. These unsolved murders are called the Great Basin Murders. Basic informaion regarding Lisa Marie Kimmell or Lil Miss can be viewed her - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lil'_Miss_murder.
