The church at Calthorpe dates from the medieval period, but has traces of a norman church inside. The square tower was built in the 13th century and is unbuttressed and faced in knapped flint. The Chancel also dates from the 13th century but the Nave was rebuilt during the 15th century. It has a 15th century archbraced roof to the Nave and a 17th century pulpit.
The octagonal font dates from the 15th century but the tall ornate cover is 20th century and originates from Buxton Church.
There is a small area of medieval stencilling on the chancel walls discovered during restoration work in 1938.
Set into the wall to the left of the main door is a memorial plaque dedicated to the men of Calthorpe who lost their lives during the 1914 -1918 war.
There are some fine trees within the grounds and usually a good number of birds singing and bees and butterflies to watch. There is a bench but it is a bit 'frail'.
The church is open during daylight hours.

The cache is not in the church grounds. Follow the path to the back of the church through the grounds to the gate at the rear which leads onto a small green lane. You are looking for a camouflaged container slightly smaller than a 35mm film pot. Please replace as found.
