Geocache Description:

Fantastica veduta panoramica verso il Golfo di Manfredonia.
Interessanti scorci sull'ambiente rupestre dove sono ancora visibili i terrazzamenti alcune decine di anni fa ancora coltivati.
Wonderful panoramic view towards the Manfredonia Gulf.
Interesting views on the surrounding rocky environments where you can see the artificial terraces several decades ago still cultivated.

I motivi di interesse per visitare Monte Sant'Angelo sono numerosi in quanto questa cittadina di montagna possiede un patrimonio storico-culturale e paesaggistico notevole (santuario di San Michele Arcangelo Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità UNESCO, il castello, il rione medievale Junno e tanto altro). Con una breve deviazione dai percorsi turistici abituali è possibile accedere facilmente alla Chiesa dell'Incoronata sul versante meridionale della città in posizione panoramica sul Golfo di Manfredonia.
Poco si sa di questo piccolo quanto suggestivo posto, quasi a guardia della città, nella valle di Sant'Oronzo appena fuori le antiche mura. La chiesa in muratura, un tempo dedicato a San Leonardo, scandisce il grande ambiente voltato scavato, in parte, nel banco roccioso; al suo interno, a destra dell'altare maggiore che ospita la statua della Madonna Incoronata, nascosti dalla penombra, si scorgono altri tre altari dedicati, rispettivamente a San Leonardo, alla Madonna delle Grazie e a San Giacomo Maggiore.

The reasons to visit Monte Sant'Angelo are many, as this mountain town has a historical and cultural heritage very important (Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo UNESCO World Heritage List, the castle, the medieval quarter Junno and much more). A short deviation from the usual tourist routes provides easy access to the Church dell'Incoronata on the southern side of the city in a panoramic position on the Manfredonia Gulf.
Little is known about this little suggestive place, in the valley of St. Oronzoe just outside the ancient walls. This church once dedicated to St. Leonardo, marks the great vaulted excavated, in part, in the bedrock. Inside, to the right of the main altar the statue of the Madonna Incoronata, hidden by the shadows, you can see the other three altars dedicated respectively to St. Leonardo, Madonna delle Grazie and St. Giacomo Maggiore.
