Geocache Description:

A short walk / cycle / paddle / sail along the beautiful Crinan Canal to the old drovers' ferry where the cattle from the isles crossed to the tryst at Kilmichael standing stones.

This is on the River Add estuary so bring your binoculars for the rich wildlife.

The cache is only half a mile from Crinan but take it slowly and explore this old gateway to the Atlantic seaways.  Long before the canal was built this was an ancient route.  The cache site is where the new Argyll Sea Kayak Trail meets the wild waters of the west.

Download a free video trail of the canal.  Why not return to Crinan along the rugged paths with amazing views at the Crinan Woods Nature Reserve.  Cross the bridge and follow the signs.

Delve deeper into the history of the area at Kilmartin Museum.
