To be able to find this cache, you might need to do some research in forehand (Google or Wikipedia might help you).
Magistrate Ancher Anthoni Nansen and his wife Mrs. Petricia Johanna, lived in Kyrkjebø from 1762 until their death. Ancher and Petricia were the great-grandparents of the famous Norwegian polar explorer, humanitarian worker and Nobel peace prize laureate, Fridtjof Nansen. Ancher and Petricia’s house (now gone) were probably just north of the road when you stand by the cache.
Legend has it, that Mrs. Petricia Nansen once came home from travel with a seed in her shoe. This seed was sown into soil, and today you can see the result of this as a huge maple tree that measures at least 6 meters in circumference around the trunk near the ground. Unfortunately the maple had to be cut down significantly for safety reasons a couple of years ago, but you can still see the trunk from the position of the cache if you look to the south (towards the sea). This tree, now more than 200 years old, is a great reminder that Fridtjof Nansen’s ancestors once lived here in Kyrkjebø.

BBB = Take the year Fridtjof Nansen went skiing across Grønland (Greenland) and subtract 1636.

Sorenskrivar Ancher Anthoni Nansen og kona hans, Petricia Johanna, budde på Kyrkjebø frå 1762, fordi Petricia arva garden på Kyrkjebø. Ancher døydde i 1765, medan Petricia levde til 1809. Ancher og Petricia var oldeforeldra til den noko meir berømte Fridtjof Nansen. Huset til Ancher og Petricia sto antakelig på andre sida av fylkesvegen i forhold til cachen.
Det vert fortalt at fru Petricia Nansen ein gong kom heim frå ei reise med eit frø i skoen. Dette frøet vart sådd i jorda, og i dag kan du sjå resultatet av det som eit digert lønnetre som har eit stammemål på minst 6 meter i omkrins rett over bakken. Dessverre måtte lønnetreet skjerast kraftig ned for eit par år sidan av tryggleiksgrunnar, men du kan framleis lett sjå lønnetreet frå cachen sin posisjon om du ser ned mot sjøen. Dette lønnetreet som no er meir enn 200 år gammalt, minner oss om at Fridtjof Nansens aner ein gong budde her på Kyrkjebø.
