Geocache Description:

Although I am reluctant to place caches of this type there is a great story behind it to give a great theme.

When I was a kid my father purchased one of the coolest items I thought at the time was a telescope (still do) which came with a floppy disk of all the constellations and when to view them.  Dad saw the awesome tool/device on that very familiar shopping channel and quickly found my birthday gift since it was being studied in 4th grade at the time and I wanted to learn all about it.  We even made a trip to the science center in New Jersey (where I grew up) to learn more about Astronomy and Telescopes.

Quickly we learned some of the problems Astronomers and Stargazers experience having a lab in a metropolitan area.  My telescope quickly made a trip to our beach house in Delaware near the sandy shores of Ocean City, MD.    Focusing our first target the "Moon" we were able to see some of the most glorious formations of the lunar surface for the first time in our lives.  It was very special for both of us.  Unfortunately now the same issue is growing in this area with the development of land and less farms shrouding the land from evil street lights.

With the evolution of technology and the banned incandescent light bulbs last year.  Will technology be able to advance past light pollution?  Or will Astronomers have to continue battling the usage of lights in public places to advance our terrestrial knowledge. As a park and grab, I hope some have learned something and can appreciate this story of these evil things. While others will just take the number and smiley for their profile.  Either way it will always be a great memory for me and this cache is to leave that memory alive for me.

This is the 90's gem below.  Still have it to this day!
