The event will take place between 11am & 3pm on Saturday 11th October. A chance to meet other geocachers, swap TBs & exchange stories about your geocaching adventures. There is a cafe selling snacks, light lunches & hot drinks or you can bring a picnic.
A chance to try geocaching, there are lots of caches nearby, the Haggis Highway has reached the area & there's a selection of drive by caches as well.
There will be a few new caches published for the event which will take place at Comrie Croft in Perthshire. This is between Crieff & Comrie just off the A85. Scottiedogz will be at the co-ords from 11am.
There are lots of caches in the area which is well known for its walks, where you can see a selection of wildlife including red squirrels, osprey, red kites & deer amongst others.
The event is called Geocaching with the Drovers because the area has a rich history. Various drove roads from the North of Scotland used to meet in Crieff where the annual cattle fair (Drovers Tryst) was held each autumn, before the drovers moved cattle south to Falkirk. Many of the local walking routes follow the old drove roads.
At Geocaching with the Drovers there will be plenty to do for all the family. The main meeting area & tea room are suitable for wheelchairs & buggies, some of the paths may be suitable for all terrain buggies but not wheelchairs.
There's walks in the woods & mountain bike trails (bike available for hire or bring your own). Or why not try your skills in the bike skills park. For the more adventurous why not arrange to share transport with a friend, leaving one car at the event and driving to the car park at Glenturret, then walking back to Comrie Croft collecting caches along the way.
The aim of the event is to have fun, meet a few people and to try and encourage others to come along and give caching a try. We will have lots of information about geocaching & will be available all day to answer any questions. We hope that some of the experienced cachers will show those who haven't tried it before how geocaching is done
Come along for the day, or make a weekend of it. Camping is available, no electric hook ups. There are katas (like yurts) for hire with log burning stoves to keep you warm in the autumn evenings, or you could stay at the backpacking hostel.
