In the town of Meadow you will find a monument to the Ute Indian Chieftan Walkara, better known as Chief Walker. A fearless warrior and inveterate horse thief, he is remembered most for the war that is named after him. The “war” ended in 1854 when Brigham Young and Wakara negotiated a peace. Afterwards, Wakara lived peacefully with the Mormon settlers until he died of pneumonia in 1855.
Be sure to read the plaque for more information on this man of history. You can find a quarry with stone similar to this monument at Square geocache (GC1ZAY7) west of Kanosh.
Should be wheelchair accessible if cars aren't in the way. Please replace container as you found it.
