Down town in any Australian Capital City can be very entertaining. But each has its own special area; DARWIN has Fanny Bay; BRISBANE has the Valley; HOBART has Salamanca; DARWIN has been mentioned; SYDNEY has the Cross; PERTH has Kings Park and ADELAIDE has Hinley Street. Each capital can usually be associated with specific land marks too; ADELAIDE has its churches; DARWIN its crocodiles; PERTH has the WACA; ADELAIDE also has its train station; SYDNEY has the coat hanger; MELBOURNE has the MCG; CANBERRA its politicians and BRISBANE the GABA! During visits to SYDNEY you must go to Taronga Zoo. In MELBOURNE a sojourn to the aquarium is mandatory. For HOBART MONA is a must. Each time you go to CANBERRA the War Museum is an essential trip.

Any move to see DARWIN must include a road trip to the War Cemetery at Adelaide River. Don't exceed the speed limit though! Greater BRISBANE is flanked by the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, both have their own attractions. Quietly, I enjoy the Sunshine Coast the most. Just getting back to MELBOURNE for a moment, a trip to Lygon Street is always of value. In this street, there are plenty of places to dine. Dining out being a favourite passtime in MELBOURNE.
