En 1861 un terremoto devastó a la ciudad. Entonces se decidió reconstruirla en otra ubicación. Se realizó una plaza principal y cuatro plazas simétricas una de ellas es Plaza Chile. Desde hace mucho tiempo, esta plaza es el escenario natural de los festejos de la Independencia del vecino país. Llama la atención el tamaño que han cobrado algunos árboles.

In 1861 an earthquake devastated the city. Then it was decided to rebuild it in another location. A main square and four symmetric more were built, one of them being Plaza Chile. For a long time this square has been the natural setting for the festivities of the Chile's Independence. It's interesting to note the size that some of the trees have achieved.
The cache:
