There are still 16 geocaches in California that were placed in 2000. There were 8 months when geocaches could be placed. Hmm? I know! Let’s have a challenge that requires you to find 8 geocaches from the year 2000. That’s one for each month of geocaching in the year 2000 or half of all the existing ones in California. I’ll be nice, any eight year-2000 geocaches will do. To the best of my ability to figure out, you would need to travel to at least three states to collect one that was placed each month. Bonus points for accomplishing this feat!
So here are the requirements to log a find:
1) Find any eight geocaches that were hidden in the year 2000.
2) Geocaches must have the original GC code. That means there should not be any GC codes much higher than GC11E, which was hidden on 12/31/2000.
3) List your eight finds including a) cache name b) GC code c) date found.
4) You may sign the log at any time but must wait until you find at least eight before recording your find.
I know of at least three geocachers and teams in the area that already meet this cache’s recording requirements. I have found two of these caches. Hopefully this challenge will spur more geocachers to search out the oldies.
