Ángel Custodio Pérez Aranda, más conocido por El Santo Custodio, nació el 8 de septiembre de 1885, en La Hoya del Salobral, una pequeña pedanía a 24 Km del municipio jiennense de Noalejo.

Ángel Custodio Pérez Aranda, better known as El Santo Custodio, born September 8, 1885, in La Hoya Salobral, a small hamlet 24 km from the town of Noalejo (Jaen).

Hijo de labradores y de carácter tímido y reservado, pronto destacó por ser un hombre bueno. Se casó con Adoración Álvarez Rosales, y del matrimonio nacieron 6 hijos (Adoración, Matías, Custodio, Luis, Angustias y Enrique).
Todo comenzó con una revelación de la virgen, cuando en 1911, le dice que tendría una gran perdida, pero que seria recompensado con un don. Al llegar a su casa se da cuenta que se ha quemado y que su pequeña hija de 4 años ha perecido en el incendio. Tras este macabro suceso la misma aparición le indico que tendría que ejercer de medico de Dios, sanando tanto física como espiritualmente a cualquiera que acudiera a él; tras las primeras sanaciones comenzaron las peregrinaciones, que en la actualidad aun se realizan a pesar del tiempo transcurrido. Curaba a través de masajes, simples contactos, a través de la saliva e incluso soplando, lo único que pedía al enfermo era fe.
Desde entonces la fama de Custodio traspasó los límites de la comarca, acudiendo a su casa personas aquejadas de todo tipo de males, desde otras provincias e incluso de fuera de Andalucía. |
Son of farmers and shy and reserved character, he soon stood out as a good man. He married Adoración Alvarez Rosales, and marriage were born 6 children (Adoration, Matthias, Custodio, Luis, and Enrique).
It all started with a revelation of the Virgin, when in 1911, she says he would have a big loss, but it would be rewarded with a gift. When he get home he realize that is burned and his little 4 year old daughter has perished in the fire. After this macabre event the same appearance indicated he would have to exercise as doctor of God, both physically and spiritually healing to anyone who come to him; healing after the first pilgrimages began, which even today are made despite the time elapsed. Healing through massage, single contacts, through saliva and even blowing, all asking the patient was faith.
Since then the fame of Custodio pushed the boundaries of the region, going to his house people suffering from all kinds of evil, from other provinces and even outside of Andalusia. |
A Santo Custodio le gustaba orar y tener momentos de recogimiento en una pequeña cueva, muy próxima a la ermita que actualmente existe en La Hoya del Salobral en honor a la Virgen de la Cabeza, donde según cuenta la leyenda descansó y pernoctó el pastor Juan Alonso de Rivas, en su camino hacia el Cerro del Cabezo, lugar en el que se le apareció en la noche del 11 al 12 de agosto de 1227 Nuestra Señora La Virgen de La Cabeza.

Santo Custodio liked to pray and have moments of recollection in a small cave, very close to the hermitage that exists in La Hoya Salobral in honor of the Virgen de la Cabeza, where legend has rested and stayed overnight shepherd Juan Alonso Rivas, on his way to the Hill Head, where she appeared to him at night from 11 to 12 August 1227 Our Lady the Virgin of La Cabeza.

Esta pequeña gruta, es hoy en día, lugar de veneración junto con su casa y su tumba, por muchos fieles que buscan ayuda de cualquier tipo al Santo.
Hay que indicar que Custodio jamás aceptó nada a cambio de su labor. Cerca de su casa, existe una fuente de agua clara y fresca, que Custodio decía estaba bendecida, por lo que también mandaba a algunos tomar agua de allí para sanar sus males. |
This small cave, is today, place of worship along with his house and his grave for many faithful who seek help of any kind to the Saint.
Note that Custodio never accepted anything for his work. Near his house, there is a spring of clear cold water, Custodio said it was blessed, so also sent some people to drink water from there to heal their ills. |

La zona donde se encuentra es un poco escarpada, pero ofrece una buenas vistas y se encuentra cerca de la famosa cueva del Santo. Se puede llegar andando por el camino hasta unos 6 metros antes del caché.
Después de localizar el caché, recomiendo ir a la fuente para probar su agua, es realmente buena y muy fresquita.
Cada año, el último domingo de abril se realiza una romería a la ermita cercana y el lugar queda abarrotado de muggles. ¡Para no poner en peligro el caché, evitad buscar ese día!
Intentad dejar el caché bien oculto, así conseguiremos que dure más tiempo.

The area where it is located is a bit steep, but offers great views and is located near the famous cave of the saint. You can walk along the road until about 6 meters before the cache.
After locating the cache, I recommend going to the source to test its water, it is really good and very fresh.
Every year on the last Sunday in April, a procession is performed to the nearby chapel and the place is crowded with muggles. To avoid jeopardizing the cache, avoid looking for it that day!
Try to leave the cache well hidden, thus putting it last longer.
