St Nicholas Church, in the parish of Allington, is a modern building built in 1974. It replaced the much earlier church of Allington St Laurence, located close to Allington Castle, which closed in 1969 and has now been converted to a private residence. St Laurence functioned largely as a chaplery for the residents of Allington Castle and was infamous for the 17th and 18th century practice of illegal marriage without banns.
The two churches are linked by a single bell, which was removed from St Laurence in 1972 and rehung at St Nicholas in 1974. The 18” diameter bell was cast in 1866 by Mears & Stainbank, London and is currently operated electronically.
At the given co-ordinates you will find a noticeboard. Look at the noticeboard to find the following information:
A = Number of crosses on the noticeboard
B = Number of words at the top of the noticeboard
C = Number of letters in the words at the top of the noticeboard
D = Number of windows in the noticeboard
E = Number of locks on the noticeboard
F = Number of hinges on the noticeboard
Use these numbers to find the final co-ordinates, when
N 51’ [C] . [B + F] [F - (D + E)] [D x E]
E 000’ [B + C + E + F] . [(A + D) x B] [B + E] [A + D + E]
